At the morning market about 5:30am a lady loads up with wears to sell in outlying areas. A bakery stall making “mount pear thlet” (small bread in oven) Here is the oven, wood fired on the bottom with bread stuck to the upper inside surface. And the taste… delicious. The fishmongers stall. The pancake stall. A small pan and fire for each pancake with coals on to to cook both sides. Tasted great. A 3 wheeler getting ready to do his rounds after buying at the morning market. Fruit stall This is was not an unusual outfit, looks like pyjamas, just out of bed to do morning shopping? On the way to the waterfall just out of Hsipaw. The waterfall was visible in the hills. The track was not always ridable And we walked from here A pretty cascade. I even took a dip. note the bike riders tan! A farm house on the creek just below the falls. back in Hsipaw, a local lad. That night was Shan New Year and there were celebrations. This man led a gonging musical troop into the festival, monastery grounds. A concert on a stage went from about 6pm till midnight fireworks. The sign says Tai New Year, the local name for Shan, both indicating their close affinity and proximity to Thailand. It was impossible to capture the atmosphere but here was a sweets stall.
